Editorial Experience

1995–Present, Freelance Editor, Toronto, Canada
For more than 20 years, I’ve run a thriving freelance practice, serving a range of clients from established publishing houses to non-profit organizations to private individuals. Nature has been one of my principal subjects and represents an area in which I am continually deepening my expertise.

1990–94 Editor, Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, Canada
As Communications Editor of Toronto’s centre for education, arts and recreation, I supervised the writing of 12 full-time marketers and publicists and worked closely with 8 graphic designers. I created and implemented a linguistic style for thousands of press kits, brochures, guides, newsletters and reports, performing the full range of editorial functions—from structural editing to stylistic editing to proofreading.

1988–89 Copy Editor/Editorial Assistant, D. C. Heath Publisher, Toronto, Canada
Biology figured early in my editing career. In this, my first editorial position, I undertook copy-editing and editorial coordination for science textbooks and teacher’s guides.
