Sharon Kirsch is a writer and editor with a longstanding passion for the natural world that has informed many aspects of her work. What Species of Creatures, her non-fiction book about the first Europeans in Canada and their encounters with unfamiliar “beasts,” is a recommended title from Canada’s National History Society. An account of Sharon’s award-winning memoir, with special attention to her botanist grandfather, can be found in this author interview with Deborah Kalb. Sharon is also at work on a word and image series about animals from afar and those closer to home. A selection from this series is published in subTerrain Magazine's nostalgia issue (#75).

As well as a writer about the natural world, Sharon is an editor with more then 20 years’ experience in the same subject area. Her editing projects have included nature travel, wildlife conservation, pets, bioethics, natural history, geography, environmental education, gardens, nature writing and ecology. She will deliver expert, meticulous and prompt editing, whether you’re writing a periodical article, brochure copy or a first-person memoir, shaping your first draft or proofreading galleys for publication.
